DHM25 with 200m grid is freely available from the toposhop.
DHM25
The digital height model DHM25 is a set of data representing the 3D form of the earth's surface without vegetation and buildings. It is essentially based on the Swiss National Map 1:25 000.
Model Forms
DHM25 - Basis Model
Digitised height information of the 1:25 000 map, with following elements:
linear elements
- Digitised contour lines
- Digitised lake contours
- Main breaklines in the Alps
points
- Digitised spot heights and lake ground spots
formats of delivery
- DXF
- ArcView Shapefiles
DHM25 - Matrix Model
The height matrix with 25 m grid is interpolated from the basis model. Enlarged grids to 50 m, 100 m, 200 m are also available.
formats of delivery
- ArcInfo ASCII Grid Format
- coordinate list with X, Y, Z
- DXF POLYFACE: Ordering in Toposhop is not possible. Can only be ordered by email to geodata@swisstopo.ch. On orders in this format an additonal handling fee of SFr.50.- is charged.
Accuracy
The DHM25 has been derived from the National Map 1:25 000 and reflects basically its accuracy. Comparisions of "model heights" with photogrammetric measurements show an average error of 1.5 m for the Central Plateau and the Jura, 2 m for the Pre-Alps and the Ticino and 3-8 m for the Alps.
Applications
The DHM25 can be used there where computations of the topography of the earth surface are requested. Therefore it is a basic set of data for geographic information systems (GIS). For instance it allows for calculations of terrain sections, simulations of avalanches, construction of terrain models, visibility studies, planning of telecommunication antennas or visulaisations of landscape views. The pallet of utilisations is very wide.
