Portrayal of quaternary formations

Instructions for the portrayal of Quaternary landforms. The principles of cartographic portrayal of geological information are presented in a simple manner. With the aid of selected Quaternary landforms and deposits, the portrayal of such geological features in the Geological Atlas 1:25,000 is described in detail.

Stratigraphic Lexicon

Stratigraphic Lexicon

Forming part of the International Stratigraphic Lexicon, a volume entitled "Schweizerisches Mittelland (Molasse)" gives detailed descriptions of the rock formations occurring in the Swiss central plateau (Mittelland). In addition to the descriptions of the types, ages and depositional relationships of rocks, the conditions under which they were deposited are briefly and succinctly described.
J. K. A. Habicht: International Stratigraphic Lexicon: Part. 7 b: Schweizerisches Mittelland (Molasse), 1987.

The signs of the Geological Survey as typeset

The font files contain the basic symbols of the “Conventional Signs and Lines” used for the graphics of the Geological Atlas of Switzerland 1:25,000. Hence they permit a conventional display in vector format according to the Atlas’s model. These characters are complementary to the “Conventional Signs and Lines”, which are used regularly in cartographic editing. They are both Windows and Mac compatible and may be downloaded free of charge below.
