Dufour Map - interactive
Dufour Map - Cartography then and now
CD-ROM
The Dufour Map is the first interactive product which uses the most up-to-date technology to allow comparison between the historic Dufour map of 1842-64, the first modern official map series covering the whole of Switzerland, and today’s national mapping at 1:100 000 scale.
The Dufour Map is available in German, French and English.
Map extracts can be examined side by side or even viewed as overlays which can be faded smoothly from one to the other. Changes in the landscape become immediately obvious. In addition to the cartographic material, the product also includes an extensive encyclopaedia of valuable and little-known facts about the creation of the Dufour map, a work of unique importance in the history of cartography and of Switzerland.
