Pixel Maps
National mapping in digital raster format
Pixel maps are a conversion of the map image into a digital form with no direct bearing on the individual map elements. The information is structured only in colour layers. For example in the printing basis "setting" (black colour plate) you will find the
- buildings
- roads and parths
- rock hachures
- spot heights
- local names
The colour layers are also available as colour combinations (all colours as one layer) and as greyscale combinations.
Pixel maps are suitable for use as background information for a wide variety of applications on screen, in multimedia applications and for geographical information systems (this includes the use as a reference background for database systems, control and monitoring systems, map displays in connection with navigation systems, geomarketing, etc.).
The PM 1000 is freely available from the toposhop
