Geographical information can be accessed on the Internet and networked using swisstopo geoservices. These services are used by applications to visualise or exchange data. swisstopo basic geographical data are now available via both WMS and WMTS interfaces.

With the swisstopo WMS product you have a simple means of integrating national maps, aerial photos and other swisstopo data into your GIS.

A Web Map Tiling Service (WMTS) is a standardised interface which makes it possible to call up map sections via the Internet. The WMTS provides geodata and maps as pregenerated tiles and uses the Internet’s caching mechanism. Thus map loading takes only a fraction of the usual time.

With the swisstopo WMTS product you have a high-performance means of integrating national maps, aerial photos and other swisstopo geodata into your GIS.
