    geo.admin.ch has won the 2012 United Nations Public Service Award, 2nd place, in the category of “Advancing Knowledge Management in Government”. Geospatial World Forum Award

  • "Geospatial World Leadership Award for National Mapping"
    The citation for the prize saw Geospatial World Magazine praise the foresightful thinking and professional methods of swisstopo in the preparation of geodata, both for the public and for commercial purposes.
    swisstopo is a “perfect example of how a federal office can be reorganised and modernised to continue to remain a dynamic and leading provider of geodata. The market and customer orientation of swisstopo is valued very highly by its users.”
    The “Geospatial World Leadership Award for National Mapping” was given on the suggestion of an international committee of experts made up of twelve personalities from the fields of geodata and geo-IT.

    New technologies dealing with three-dimensional (3D) land data impose demands that ensure the objectivity of three-dimensional modelling at the ethical level and in terms of deontology.
    The aim of the charter of ethics and deontology is to establish fundamental principles that its signatories are committed to actively respecting.
    It is intended for public authorities, research units, industry associations, the private sector, that is all those who arrange, produce, handle, use or disseminate geographical data, computer generated images or three-dimensional land representations, together with related tools.

  • e-geo.ch charter
    The e-geo.ch charter is intended for services of the Swiss Confederation, its cantons and communes, for economic players and research units which capture, manage and use geodata. By signing the charter, they are declaring that they are ready to actively participate – in connection with the strategies of the Swiss Confederation with regard to e-administration (eGovernment) and geographic information – in the setting up of conditions required for the national infrastructure of geographical information, in the optimisation of services and the interconnection of geodata, wholly geared towards users.
