The Cartography Division is responsible for the analogue and digital cartographic portrayal of the earth's surface and it's coverage for the whole of Switzerland and adjacent parts of other countries. The basic digital geographical data presented in fair-drawn graphic form serve as the foundation for cartographic products of national interest.
The national map series at scales from 1:25 000 to 1:1 million as well as thematic maps for special purposes are produced to high quality standards and are regularly revised over the whole country. The maintenance of the maps forms an important objective which is ensured by means of continuous documentation and archiving.
