Geological Information Center

Tasks

Collects and archives unpublished geological documents, digital data (e.g., from seismic recordings) and geological samples (especially drilling samples) useful for national geological investigations; both the public sector (federal, cantonal, and local governments) and the private sector (geological consultant offices) supply such information.
Makes geological information accessible to specialists and the public.
Advises the centre's users.
Preserves geological records of temporary outcrops.
