- The Geological Data Process (LGD) coordinates the national geological investigations of the Swiss Geological Survey with the earth science commissions of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (sc|nat
), other official bodies, the Federal Geological Commission (EGK), as well as specialist companies and the Swiss Association of Geologists (CHGEOL ). - The LGD operates the secretariat of the Federal Geological Commission.
- It coordinates the strategic direction of national geophysical and geotechnical surveys and ensures the involvement in operational activities of the Swiss Geophysical and Geotechnical Commissions (SGPK and SGTK , respectively).
- The LGD makes use of new knowledge and technology derived from geological research, science and project management and develops them further.
- It coordinates participation in research projects and international survey campaigns as well as cooperation with universities and partner institutions.
- It also coordinates international cooperation and technology transfer.
- The LGD operates and maintains the scientific library and records of the Geological Survey.
