The GIS centre is in charge of the GIS infrastructure at swisstopo. It offers geographic information systems, software tools and services for the description, production, administration and delivery of swisstopo’s spatially referenced data.
Its main tasks are the reliable functioning, maintenance and enhancement of the GIS infrastructure for orthoimages, digital landscape models, mapping models and height models. In this regard the GIS centre advises and supports internal and external partners. The range of services offered comprises the specification of spatially geodata and geographic information systems, the software development for data administration, quality management and data delivery as well as the professional support for projects in the field of geoinformatics.
Furthermore the GIS centre provides special services in terms of product definition, product documentation and the establishing of individual products.
