Control networks

The new satellite-based LV95 was realized and concluded in 1995. The LV95 should replace the old national survey LV03, however, a transition period of several years is scheduled.

The Swiss national surveying network is integrated into continental (ETRF) and global (ITRF) reference frames by means of GPS campaigns. Five points from the LV95 network were integrated into the EUREF GPS Campaign.

With the definition of the reference system CH1903 and the map projection in 1903, a uniform base was established for the first nationwide control network. For the past century, the control network LV03 served as the reference frame for all surveying in Switzerland.
