National Gravity Network
The national gravity network LSN2004 is based on the existing Swiss National Gravity Network. At this time a modernization of this network is under way, in which the existing network is complemented by new absolute and relative measurements.
The national gravity network LSN2004 is based on the existing Swiss National Gravity Network (SG95), which was established during the years 1992 to 1994. The field observations and the data adjustment were carried out by the Geodesy and Geodynamics Lab (GGL) at the ETH Zurich, by order of the Swiss Geodetic Commission (SGC) and the Swiss Geophysical Commission (SGPC).
At this time a modernization of this network is under way, in which the existing network is complemented by new absolute and relative measurements. These new measurements are performed in collaboration with the Federal Office of Metrology (METAS) and the Geophysical Institute of the University of Lausanne (IG UNIL).

- Gravity stations of LSN2004
The LSN2004 consists of the existing absolute stations in Switzerland (large black dots), the absolute stations to be re-measured for LSN2004 (red dots) and 5 absolute gravity stations in the neighboring territories as connection points (brown dots). Together with 12 stable levelling bench marks (violet dots) and 5 main points of the GPS national network LV95 (green dots), they form the Swiss first order gravity network.
The rest of the main points of the LV95 network represent the second order gravity network.
The points of LSN2004 are used as reference points for the relative gravity observations in precise levelling and for the gravimetric survey.
