The density of lakes in Switzerland is so high that you can always reach one within a few kilometres. In swissTLM3D there are 16'000 lakes and ponds. Over 5'600 are larger than 1000 m2 and many of them are suitable for a refreshing dip.

swisstopo's geodata doesn't differentiate between lakes and ponds. A lake is defined as a body of water entirely surrounded by land and having a bank length of at least 50 metres.
