• Qualification: Computer scientist / platform development with a Swiss Certificate of Competence (SCC)
• Field of study: Platform development
• Duration: 4 years (1st year of training externally with basic training provider  ICT Berufsbildungscenter AG (in german)  in Bern)
• Vocational school Gibb in Bern with the possibility of attending the Vocational Baccalaureate School (BMS)

Typical tasks for computer scientists:

• Contributing to the development and enhancement of swisstopo’s on-premises and cloud infrastructure
• You will manage and maintain swisstopo’s IT systems and specialist applications
• Contributing to projects (analysis, design, implementation, integration, etc.)
• Resolving system faults in swisstopo’s production environment

Your apprenticeship at swisstopo

• What prerequisites do I need and what are the requirements for me:

  • Secondary school or very good intermediate diploma after the 10^th grade (having completed the 10th school year is an advantage)
  • High motivation to learn
  • Flexibility, perseverance and patience
  • Technical understanding and systematic approach to work
  • Strong team spirit and independence

• What further training opportunities do I have after my apprenticeship?

  • Professional examinations for specialisations (e.g. ICT Platform Development Specialist)
  • Higher technical college for certified computer scientists
  • Universities of applied sciences for a Bachelor's degree in computer science (BMS is a prerequisite)
  • Courses and seminars also offer targeted in-depth training in areas such as IT security and agile project management
