Exchange of data between authorities

On 6 April 2016 the Federal Council signed an agreement on the exchange of basic federal geodata between authorities, thus creating the basis for simplified use of these data. 

The Swiss Confederation and the Cantons regulate their cooperation on the exchange of geodata

On 6 April 2016 the Federal Council signed an agreement on the exchange of basic federal geodata between authorities, thus creating the basis for simplified use of these data.

The agreement stipulates that the exchange of basic federal geodata between the federal government and the cantons is to be free of charge. This will give rise to the more efficient and widespread use of these valuable data, and will also create value-added for the economy.

The agreement was put into effect on 1st October 2016. It is published in the systematic compilation of federal law as SR 510.620.3
