Federal Geological Commission FGC
The Federal Geological Commission (FGC) is a permanent extra-parliamentary commission and neutral expert commission. It advises the Federal Council on geological issues and prepares expert reports and groundwork documents.
The FGC adopts stances on geological issues of importance for the Federal Council and the departments of the Federal Administration. The expert commission prepares groundwork documents and provides neutral assessments of geological reports.
Composition of the FGC
The commision comprises experts from outside the federal administration. Its secretariat is managed by the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo, and its contacts with federal offices are secured via the secretariat.
