Geological vector datasets for better subsurface management

NEW: All datasets GeoCover have been standardised according to the Geological Data Model V3.0 (data structure and list of attribute values) and also harmonised in terms of representation. The version GeoCover V2 today complete allows now queries at national scale.

These geological vector datasets are the ideal basis for creating geothematic data sets such as, for example, in the area of natural hazards or the environment and for analyses in geographical information systems (GIS). According to the sheet layout of the 1:25,000 national maps, the datasets are based on the published maps of the Geological Atlas of Switzerland 1:25,000 and on compilations extracted from the most recent geological map material that is available. The original not standardised GeoCover version V1 based on GA25 is now complete on: GA25-V.

The data sets are numbered according to the following logic:
- from 1 to 3 digits, e.g. GC-V-100 for Berne, for the existing sheets of the Geological Atlas of Switzerland to 1:25,000 scale.

- 4 digits correspond to those of the national map, e.g. GC-V-1193 for Tödi, for compilations mostly based on special geological maps and unpublished originals in various scales.

Geocover is only available in MN95. Data is supplied without topographical basis.
