Vortex, the Olympic village in Lausanne

We update our geodata continuously. The new building Vortex, in Chavannes-près-Renens (VD), which hosts the Olympic athletes who compete for the Youth Olympic Games and then will be used as a residence for the students of the University of Lausanne, is already visible on our online maps.

With its 27 meters high and a ramp of 2.8 kilometers, the circular building Vortex, in Lausanne, welcomes the 1800 athletes and their companions for the Youth Olympic Games since the 9th of January 2020.

When the competitions will be over, students and guests of the University of Lausanne can occupy the rooms. Nearly a thousand of them will be at their disposal. The people in charge of this project wanted to make these Olympic Games sustainable. A center for children, cultural and associative spaces, a restaurant and shops are also included in this project.
