swissBUILDINGS3D 3.0 Beta in the format CityGML 2.0

swissBUILDINGS^3D 3.0 Beta is now also available in the CityGML format. The 3D building models can be downloaded free of charge from the product page.

swisstopo is providing some of the 3D building models from swissBUILDINGS^3D 3.0 Beta in the open data format CityGML 2.0. The new format covers all areas in which the building data has already been prepared according to the federal building identifier (EGID). This is currently the case in the cantons of AG, AI, AR, BE, BL, BS, GL, JU and TG as well as in the city of Zurich. The offer continues to be expanded with other cantons.

CityGML

CityGML is an open and popular format for modeling, storing and exchanging 3D data. This format is often used in the context of 3D city models and it is an international standard of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

Efforts by swisstopo

By providing swissBUILDINGS^3D 3.0 Beta in the open CityGML format, swisstopo wants to make its 3D building data accessible to a wider range of users and consider international standards. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of data and boost the realization of innovative projects.
