Official directory of building addresses

The coordinates of building entrances will now also be provided in .csv format with three decimal places.

The coordinates of building entrances in the official directory of building addresses are taken from the official cadastral survey and are sent daily to the Federal Register of Buildings and Dwellings (GWR).

Until now, these coordinates were disseminated in meters in the .csv format, without decimal places. However, some geographic applications using this format require greater precision. Due to rounding, it could happen that the coordinate of a building entrance is slightly offset and thus partly outside the footprint of the building.

From May the 1st 2025, the .csv format of the official directory of building addresses will contain the coordinates of building entrances with three decimal places (for example, [2679711; 1284583] will become [2679710.978; 1284583.342]). Coordinates in the other formats (.xtf and .gdb) are already shown to three decimal places. The source of the data remains the official cadastral survey. As a reminder, the precision of measurements taken in the field is sometimes only in the order of a centimeter, depending on the progress of the official cadastral survey, and indications in millimeters may indicate a pseudo-precision that has not been measured.

This new feature harmonizes the coordinates between all the formats offered, as well as the GWR, which already displays the coordinates of building entrances to three decimal places.
