Official directory of towns and cities
From January 2026, there will be some changes to the CSV format of the official directory of towns and cities.
Three changes apply to the CSV format of the official directory of towns and cities.
- A column with the attribute “ZIP_ID” is added. This attribute is already present in the minimal geodata model and in the relational model. It is the unique identification number of the postal code (ZIP6) assigned by the postal service.
- A new column is added containing a percentage that indicates the proportion of addresses associated with a combination of “ZIP_ID” and municipality. For each “ZIP_ID”, the sum of the address proportions always equals 100.00%. As a reminder, a locality can belong to several municipalities, and a municipality can also comprise several localities. The address share per locality/municipality pair illustrates this well.
- The coordinates for each entry in the file were placed according to the highest address density within the perimeter. The point is always located within the perimeter of the corresponding locality.
These changes will be integrated into the CSV format of the official directory of towns and cities from January 1, 2026. The product information is updated accordingly.
