Quality and excellence
swisstopo places a great deal of value on quality and client satisfaction in the areas of data, products and services. In recent years it has received numerous awards and certifications.
Awards
The Federal Office of Topography swisstopo has won the Geospatial World Excellence Award 2022 in the category "Content Platform" for its 3D underground viewer swissgeol.ch. The 3D underground viewer viewer.swissgeol.ch is used to display data below earth's surface. The Geospatial World Awards were launched in 2007 and are an internationally recognised award for best practice in the geospatial industry worldwide.
Master of Swiss Apps 2021 The swisstopo app was named "Master of Swiss Apps 2021". The app received another gold medal in the “Functionality” category and silver in the “Innovation” category.
The popular and very much used map and geodata app received the award for its diverse functions and user-friendly operation.
With the Best of Swiss Apps award in various categories, Swiss app developments of outstanding quality have been honored annually by an expert jury since 2013.
ICA Prize Vector Tiles At the 30th International Cartographic Conference ICC, held in Florence from 14-18 December 2021, swisstopo won the audience award with the Vector Tiles map of the "Light Base Map".
Prix Carto 2021 - Digital & Print Swisstopo was honoured in two categories at once with the Prix Carto awarded every two years by the Swiss Cartographic Society.
In the "Print" category, the mySwissMap received the Prix Carto 2021. For the jury, the creative idea, its solid implementation and the quality of the personalised paper map were particularly worthy of an award.
The swisstopo app won the Prix Carto 2021 in the "Digital" category as an outstanding ambassador for Swiss cartography.
Esri User Conference awards 2018 swisstopo’s new hiking map has been awarded twice at the Esri User Conference 2018 in San Diego, USA:
- «Cartography Special Interest Group Excellence»
- «Recognition of Excellence in Cartography» of the International Cartography Association ICA and the International Map Industry Association IMIA
Both prices confirm that Swiss cartography still maintains a leading position internationally.
Certificates and labels
Label UND The «Family & Profession» rating is the distinction that the agency UND awards to companies that are successful in achieving measures to reconcile professional and family or private life as well as equality between women and men. It is a quality label for small, medium and large companies that practice family-friendly working conditions.
Logo Theme Leader egovernment As the leading “e-government Switzerland” voice, swisstopo is adopting a central role in coordinating the implementation and dissemination of geoinformation, and is also the nationwide contact point and main knowledge source in this area.
Logo FSC The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international charity association which is committed to exemplary forest management.
Products which have FSC labels ascertain a link between raw materials which come from forests managed in an exemplary manner and products which have been manufactured using these raw materials. They provide the end consumer with a certainty and a guarantee that their purchase is not contributing to the pillaging of forests.
Zertifikat ISO IEC 27001 The ISO 27001 certification was awarded to swisstopo for implementing an effective information security management system (ISMS) based on the international reference standard ISO 27001. This standard defines a methodology for identifying cyber threats, controlling risks associated with the company's critical information and implementing appropriate protective measures to ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information.

Logo 3D Ethics Charter The new technologies for processing three-dimensional geodata have to meet the requirements that ensure the objectivity of 3D modelling at the ethical and deontological levels.
