Commemorating the publication of sheet 172 Le Locle of the Geological Atlas of Switzerland 1:25,000 in 2021, swisstopo is organising a geological excursion to the Doubs Gorge.

During this hike between Les Planchettes and Les Brenets, you will experience the magnificent landscape of the lake region and the Doubs Gorge from a different angle. The route via the Roches de Moron, the Châtelot Dam and the Saut-du-Doubs will take you by boat to Les Brenets and by train to La Chaux-de-Fonds, the starting point. Explanations along the way will allow you to read about the karstic environment and to discover the rocks and fossils that bear witness to the geological history of this region.
