From rock formation to erosion

From

To
Sunday, 18 June 2023, 5:15pm
Bad Ragaz (SG)
Excursion
Sheet 178 Vättis of the Geological Atlas of Switzerland 1:25,000 will be published towards the end of 2023. In this context, this excursion will give you an insight into the Vättis tectonic window, where you will learn how the sedimentary rocks were deposited and how tectonic processes subsequently formed the Calanda and the Ringelspitz.
In the second part and after a short bus ride from Vättis to Valens, the themes of water and erosion will accompany us. We will descend into the Tamina Gorge and discover how the Tamina spring emerges from the rock source and how it has cut deeply into the bedrock.
