A graduate internship at swisstopo provides trainees with an opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study, and is an ideal way to launch their career. It is also a good opportunity for them to begin to assume responsibility in their profession and establish valuable contacts.

A graduate internship enables students to put the knowledge they have obtained at college into practice, as well as to gain experience and increase their specialised know-how. They have an opportunity to assume responsibility in their profession for the first time, as well as practice using another language and of course establish valuable contacts for the future. 

swisstopo offers graduate internships in eight different fields:

  • Earth sciences, geology
  • Geography
  • Geomatics and planning
  • Information technology
  • Communication and media studies
  • Business IT 

Requirements for a graduate internship at swisstopo

The maximum duration of an internship is twelve months. Applicants must have completed their studies at a university or college of technology (bachelors, masters or similar degree), and are required to apply within twelve months after graduating. They are not eligible if they have previously acquired professional experience within the federal administration.
