The secret of rocks

«The secret of rocks» is a teaching aid in geology that is suitable for geography and history lessons. School classes learn about the history of rocks and landscapes of our country in a playful way and thereby gain their first experience with geodata.

«The secret of rocks» is a compilation of teaching materials intended for teachers and their pupils at upper primary and secondary levels (pupils aged 10 to 15). It provides a variety of items and illustrations to educate the pupils about the history of rocks and our landscape. In doing so, it can awaken an interest in the diversity of geology. Because this product is available as a free download, all other interested persons have an easy access to it.

The teaching materials include one feature per canton and are designed to familiarise the pupils with geodata.

Each download includes:

  • An explanatory sheet giving simple explanations and accompanied by illustrations;
  • An activity sheet (included an answer sheet) combining experiments and some aspects to consider in the classroom as well as fieldtrip suggestions;
  • A worksheet for pupils (included an answer sheet)
