Scope and purpose
a) These terms of use govern the acquisition and use of the swisstopo app by users, including the app components contained therein and deemed to be an integral part thereof.
b) The content of this swisstopo app is protected by law. Legal protection is based on the Federal Act on Geoinformation GeoIA of 5 October 2007 (SR 510.62) and the associated Ordinance on Geoinformation GeoIV of 21 May 2008 (SR 510.620) as well as international copyright regulations.
c) The app enables users to access swisstopo geodata on a mobile device.
Rights and responsibilities
a) By installing or using the swisstopo app, the user declares that he or she has understood these terms of use and acknowledges them.
b) The swisstopo app is free of charge and can be obtained from the App Store for iOS devices or from the Google Play Store for Android devices. The maps can be stored for unrestricted use and also used offline.
c) The right of use is limited to lawful use.
d) By submitting a message regarding changes to maps and geodata from swisstopo, the user agrees that the information provided may be stored, processed and published in an anonymous form by an official office of the Confederation.
As an user, you are legally liable for misuse of the provided function and illegal activities. Do respect data protection and copyright regulations. A violation is punishable and prosecuted. In particular, do not violate personal rights or copyrights. The Federal Office of Topography swisstopo reserves the right to delete such data at any time, without notice.
Copyright
a) The swisstopo app and the data and parts thereof may not be decompiled or altered in any form or reproduced, published or made available to third parties.
b) The official geodata integrated into the app is protected by the Act on Geoinformation (Public service protection). Unless otherwise stated, this is data from the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo and the provisions of the Ordinance on Geoinformation apply.
c) All uses and publications of swisstopo's official geodata are permitted within the framework of Open Government Data (OGD) and without the approval of the Federal Terms of use swisstopo app 2/3 Office of Topography, provided that the source is cited as the «Federal Office of Topography swisstopo».

Liability
a) The swisstopo app has been created using state-of-the-art technology and carefully tested. However, there is no guarantee that this application will function without error in every respect, in all applications and combinations or on all end devices. Any liability for direct or indirect damage resulting from the correct or incorrect use of the swisstopo app and the maps and data displayed is excluded, insofar as this is legally permissible.
b) The app may contain hyperlinks to third-party websites. swisstopo accepts no liability whatsoever for the content, products, services or objects offered on linked sites. Use of the links is at your own risk. swisstopo accepts no liability for third-party content imported into the swisstopo app (tours and markers).
c) Tours that are shared as a link are stored on the swisstopo app servers for one year. swisstopo assumes no liability or guarantee regarding the availability of the shared tours or the stored data. In particular, no backup is provided.
d) The swisstopo national maps displayed in the app are topographic maps. They provide an overview as complete as possible of any residential zones, paths, roads, bodies of water, terrain, vegetation, and individual objects. However, the maps do not contain any information about restrictions on use or access (driving bans, private roads, company premises, etc.). Users themselves are responsible for complying with restrictions or prohibitions on use and access.
Termination of use
a) Use of the app may be terminated by the user at any time by deleting or uninstalling it from the mobile phone.
b) If these terms of use are violated or legal protection provisions are not complied with, the rights of use shall end and swisstopo may prohibit access to the app temporarily or permanently. In such cases, the app and the data must be completely destroyed. The Swiss Federal Office of Topography has the right to have the complete destruction certified by a notary.
Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
The terms of use are subject to Swiss law.
The place of jurisdiction is Berne (Switzerland).
