Geoservices for the DDPS
Geoinformation is indispensable for military and civil security agencies. swisstopo ensures that the armed forces and their systems have access to geospatial reference data and provides a number of other specialist geoinformation and geoinformatics services.
Service Center GIS

Military cartography
The military cartography plays a key role in procuring, preparing and distributing geodata and special maps for the armed forces. It produces special geodata and maps for troops and the administrative units.
MSDI
The military spatial data infrastructure provides the armed forces’ command, control, communications and computer (C4) systems with the required geoservices. As part of this, swisstopo ensures a geodata interface between the federal spatial data infrastructure and its military twin.
KADAS
KADAS is a standard application used by the armed forces to work with digital maps and geoinformation. It provides direct access to the military spatial data infrastructure (MSDI) across a number of topics.
Supply with maps
In order to supply the armed forces with sufficient maps, swisstopo has a stockpile for lending. It is based on Regulation 51.024 (Organisation of Military Training).
