Better orientation thanks to landmarks in the swisstopo app
The Base Map, the interactive map in the swisstopo app now offers around 300 selected landmarks directly on the map. This new feature makes it easier to find your way around. Well-known buildings, towers, peaks and other prominent features are visible at a glance, making map reading even more instinctive.
Around 300 landmarks
The Base Map now offers around 300 landmarks. These include, for example, outstanding buildings, mountain peaks and well-known natural features. The landmarks were specifically selected for their suitability as points of reference and are distributed across the whole of Switzerland.
Better orientation
The new landmarks immediately catch the eye. Their simplified, distinctive design makes it easy to recognise there counterparts in the real world. This enables users to find key landmarks quicker and to work out their position with ease. Thus orientation becomes easier and map-reading more instinctive.
